Elizabeth and Rhys’ Proposal in Antarctica

I have been waiting a long time to share these photos here on my blog and today I finally can because they were just posted on Huffington Post!

As a wedding photographer I’ve had the opportunity to photograph many
love stories, but my favorite is without a doubt my sister’s. My sister, Elizabeth, and her fiancé, Rhys, met seven years ago at a
nightclub in the Meatpacking District and have been inseparable ever
since. Over the last seven years I’ve watched them make a home together
with their dog in New York City. I patiently waited for him to pop
the question to her and make it official. I always secretly hoped I’d
get to see the proposal in person. My family loves to travel and last December we took a trip down to
Antarctica with National Geographic over the holidays. On New Year’s
Day Rhys knocked on my door and asked if he could talk to me. He told
me that he’d like me to come on a hike with them so I could take some
photos at the top of them together. My response? “That’s annoying, I don’t want to take the hike. Make
someone else do it.” He started to look a little anxious and told me
that I was the only one who could do it because I have the skills for
it. Suddenly it clicked that he wanted me to photograph their proposal
and I started crying like a baby. I managed to pull myself together and
make it up the mountain without giving it away. I’ve photographed
dozens of proposals, and I have never seen a reaction quite like my

Tribeca Rooftop Proposal, New York City Proposal Photography

Katie and Skyler’s Baseball themed proposal was so romantic on a TriBeCa rooftop! The proposal was expertly planned by The Heart Bandits and of course she said yes! The proposal was full of personal touches like hundreds of Katie’s favorite flowers and custom baseball cards. The Heart Bandits helped Sklyer make up a binder full of personalized baseball cards and on the last page the cards spelled out “Will You Marry Me?” The whole proposal took place during sunset on the rooftop of a private downtown club with an amazing view of lower Manhattan- so romantic and a pleasure to photograph for them!

Wine Cellar Proposal, New York City Proposal Photography

Roderick and Hollis’ proposal planned by The Heart Bandits, was one of the most beautiful proposals I’ve ever photographed! Roderick and Hollis went out to dinner at Club A Steakhouse and little did she know that beneath the restaurant in the wine cellar Roderick had arranged for the room to be transformed into a romantic wonderland celebrating their relationship. A beautiful white linen table had been set out spanning the whole length of the cellar covered in beautiful arrangements of pink, orange, and yellow flowers as well as framed portraits of them together celebrating important moments in their relationship. Roderick topped it off with a book he wrote to their unborn child, which he presented to Hollis then popped the question. So romantic and a pleasure to capture for them to enjoy for many many years to come!
