A Lovely Spring Wedding in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn Fine Art Wedding Photography

Sean and Aynsley’s lovely Spring wedding in Brooklyn Heights was truly a neighborhood affair.  The ceremony and reception were held at two different church’s a block away from each other, which were a block from the bride and groom’s apartment where the groom got ready and the bride’s sister’s apartment was one more block over where the bride got ready.  Sean and Aynsley had a first look just the two of them on top of their roof, which has an incredible view of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge.  We then spent the next hour wandering the cobblestone streets of Brooklyn Heights taking portraits and meeting up with their friends and family at the waterfront before heading over to the church.  The newly married bride and groom had a grand exit out the church while their guests threw birdseed at them (an environmentally friendly alternative to rice) and then all 150 guests walked around the block to enjoy cocktail hour in the beautiful garden of the historic Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims.   Guests were welcomed into the reception by amazing tunes from Total Soul and the large room was completely transformed the incredibly talented Amy from Seaport Flowers who decorated the long tables in shades of green and white with hundreds of candles mixed in between the peonies.  One of my favorite moments of the night was during cake cutting when the 2 year old flower girl decided to dip a finger into the frosting with all the guests crowded around- such a cute moment!  After the bride and groom partied the night away the guests celebrated the couple with a sparkler exit out onto the streets of Brooklyn Heights.  Read more about their wedding on Brides.com!

A Classic Wedding in Princeton, NJ, New Jersey Fine Art Wedding Photography

Astrid and Jeff had a beautiful summertime wedding at the bride’s alma mater, Princeton University.  The ceremony took place at the airy Miller Chapel followed by a perfectly sunset timed cocktail hour in the gardens of the Prospect House and an evening of dinner and dancing inside the historic mansion.  The day was a lovely mix of old and new.  The bride juxtaposed a very modern off white jeweled gown with a stunning antique heirloom pearl necklace from the groom’s grandmother.  The bridesmaids were a perfect pop of color for summer wearing different styles of bright fuchsia gowns and carrying bright pink and green blooms.  The groomsmen complimented them perfectly in grey suits and rose colored ties.

The couple carried over the pops of pink and airy feeling into their reception where the beautiful room was full of touches of white and gold and hot pink blooms as the centerpieces.  Many of the guests and family members were also Princeton alums, and in one of my favorite moments of the day, during cocktail in the gardens the Princeton alums got together for a photo and broke into song, serenading the party.  The bride later serenaded the party again with her fellow Tigerlillies, her Princeton acapella group.

Lifestyle Family Portraits in DUMBO

I do a lot of family portraits in New York City’s parks.  I love photographing in nature and the photos are always beautiful, but there’s something so special about a city session set amongst the cobblestones and landmarks of New York City.  This very special family are not only dear friends, but were also one of my first wedding clients.  When our original plan to shoot in Central Park got called off because of cold temperatures we decided to hit the streets of DUMBO the next day instead incorporating the Brooklyn Bridge into the shots, where I had photographed their engagement photos years ago.
