The first year of life is such a fun time to shoot because there are so many changes that happen so fast just the other day when I was shooting an 8-week-old he discovered his hands for the first time while we were shooting and became enchanted with them for the rest of the shoot holding them up and staring at them. Newborns and one-year-olds are pretty easy to photograph, but sometimes those in between months can be more difficult as the baby isn’t sleepy and malleable like a newborn and can’t sit up and move around yet like a one-year-old. For those in-between months I like to let the baby dictate the shoot and for this beautiful blue-eyed girl we had a great time photographing outside along the water in Battery Park City, but then when it got too cold we also had fun moving inside for some studio holiday shots where we got some of the most adorable smiles I think I’ve ever seen!
