My favorite activity at Queen Elizabeth National Park was a boat ride we did on the Kazinga Channel. I’ve done many safaris before so it is always fun to experience something different and being in a boat was a fun way to experience the wildlife. We were staying at the
Mweya Lodge, which has its own private boats that are allowed out on the water. I highly recommend the lodge for this reason because otherwise you have to go on larger boats with many more people on them. To protect the wildlife a limited number of boats are allowed on the channel, but Mweya has permits that allow them to use private boats with a small number of people on them. From our boat we saw herds of hippos, buffalo, elephants, crocodiles, more species of birds than I could count including Malachite Kingfishers, Fish Eagles, and Marbou storks bigger than the children in the fishing village playing by the water, and we even a leopard in a tree in the distance.
