Happy Halloween Everyone! (Well Happy November 1st now!) As I’ve mentioned before October is my favorite month in the year. The leaves start to change, the air gets crisp, beautiful scarves and coats start to make their way out of my closet from their summer hibernation and then best of all the month goes out with a bang: Halloween! I love Halloween because even though it is technically only one day I really start celebrating mid way through the month. There are pumpkins to pick and carve, candy corn to eaten and costumes to be made! Then on Halloween itself is one of the coolest NYC events: The Halloween Village Parade! Unfortunately this year the weather gods were not on my side and the projected “light drizzle” that weather.com told me would occur turned into a monsoon and I had no choice but to duck out of the parade after a mere hour of reveling in Halloween fun. Times like this do remind me though how nice New Yorkers can be, two guys dressed as spiderman and venom were nice enough to let me share their umbrella and then an awesome zombie couple let me hang with them in a bar and gave me a rain cover for my camera that I stupidly didn’t bring thinking I wouldn’t need it! The rain just got too bad though and I met up with my sister and two of her lovely friends for some dinner and drinks. Afterward the rain had let up a bit and they headed to a bar and I stationed myself on 7th Avenue and Christopher Street and photographed the people as they left the parade. Costumes were fun and quirky like always, and it’s always funny to see people dressed crazy after the parade, I think I’m traumatized from seeing the Teletubies at a bar! After the jump please enjoy my favorite costumes of the night!
